The Payments Officer will be a key contributor to the payment operations team. The role of which entails to assist with the processing of all operational payments and related activities.
The Role
  • Reporting to the Payment Operations manager, the candidate will have the opportunity to evolve in a dynamic environment, taking initiative on day-to-day operations and support the company’s very ambitious growth objectives.
  • Processing all of the operational payments; manual and automated
  • Review of all settlement and authorization exceptions in a timely manner across all banking and issuer partners
  • Posting of bank statements, reconciling bank accounts and resolving inter-company issues
  • Assist in a number of deliverables within the month-end process in terms of management accounts delivery
  • Daily monitoring and preparing weekly aged creditors in relation to the credit working capital facilities
  • Daily book-keeping duties including maintaining of the general ledgers
  • Monthly liaison with Line manager to keep him/her appraised of status/progress/issues, etc
  • Assisting with yearly external audit; preparation of reconciliation statements
  • Other financial reports as requested on an ad-hoc basis
  • Assist Payment Operations manager in dispute logging and processing
  • Act as an escalation point for the Finance Support specialists unresolved queries
  • Assist in chargeback processing and disputes
  • In possession of a Finance related qualification
  • At least 1 year of previous experience in a similar role within finance and payments area
  • Additional experience in fraud or chargebacks is considered an asset
  • Conversant with a strong interest in both IT and Finance
  • Previous experience with databases and SQL is an asset
  • Results orientated, proactive and can-do attitude
  • Good stakeholder management experience
  • Strong work ethic, good judgment, initiative and attention to detail
  • The ability to represent the company and brand excellently
  • Problem solver and experience working with cross functional teams across multiple time zones
