Overview of the role

Currently we have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Purchasing Officer to join our client’s team based in Malta.
 
Summary of the position
 
The chosen candidate will be working within a dynamic team, in a ‘fast passed’ and challenging industry. He/ She will be responsible for the procurement of various items, materials and equipment required by the company and its world-renowned Clients. The ideal candidate would be dynamic, self-motivated, deals well under pressure and an excellent multitasker.
 
Responsibilities;
  • Responsible for the procurement of goods and services for both internal requirements, and client requests, following respective procurement procedure.
  • Request for quotations based on needs identified by respective requester
  • Endeavour in sourcing activities for requested goods and negotiate pricing with vendors, ensuring savings and sales targets are achieved.
  • Review shipment requirements, including obtaining respective shipping costs through the shipping dept.
  • Issue official quotations to clients as per contracts/issue cost comparisons for internal requests
  • Chasing quotes pending approvals and necessary back-up documentation
  • Raise purchase orders with suppliers and follow order until it arrives at the base
  • Dealing with order for clients and issuing of all necessary documents
  • Input data in reports as required by the procedure
  • Support a positive work environment within the team and other internal stakeholders
  • Provides training and support to other members within the department, as instructed by the head of department
  • Support the head of department in developing and updating processes and procedures related to procurement and provide necessary feedback.
 
Requirements;
  • Minimum 1 year working experience within procurement.
  • EQF Level 4 education in business related subjects.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English. Ability to understand Maltese, will be considered an asset.
  • Experience with working with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Able to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Time Management skills & ability to multitask with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to learn
  • Possess a proactive & ethical character.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and public holidays, as necessary
  • Innovative and has the ability to find ‘out of the box’ solutions.
  • Holder of a clean driving license.
