Job description:
Reporting directly to the Head of Risk and Compliance, the Risk Manager will assume responsibility for evaluating, responding to, and overseeing the exposure to risk for our Banking client. This role will also ensure alignment between the strategy and risk tolerance endorsed by the Board of Directors and the Bank’s day-to-day operations. Additionally, it involves implementing measures to bolster controls, accountability, and a risk-conscious culture across the organization.

Primary Duties
  • Developing, designing, and implementing risk management processes, tools, and systems for identifying, evaluating, measuring, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks, including the maintenance of an ongoing risk register.
  • Supporting the enhancement and fortification of the internal control systems and overarching risk management framework.
  • Preparing regulatory documents such as the ICAAP, ILAAP, and Recovery Plan, along with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Compiling the financial risk management section within the annual report.
  • Taking ownership of the Risk Monitoring Committee, which includes creating and overseeing key risk indicators (KRIs).
  • Attending meetings and presenting reports to the Audit and Risk Committee, as well as other pertinent committees when requested.
  • Evaluating new Bank products available to the public.
  • Participating in off-site information seminars to stay current with industry developments and emerging risks, and disseminating pertinent knowledge across the Bank.
  • Safeguarding the independence of the second line of defense and promoting a robust risk-aware culture throughout the Bank.
  • Overseeing the IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss (ECL) exercise.
  • Conducting second line checks on the first line of defense.
  • Drafting procedures and policies.
  • Engaging in Data Protection responsibilities and monitoring.
  • Participating in ad hoc projects and internal review initiatives.
Necessary Skills and Qualifications
  • A graduate education in Banking and Finance, Accounting, Business, Mathematics and Statistics, or an equivalent field.
  • A sound comprehension of the Banking Industry.
  • Experience in Quantitative Risk Management.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working within the local Banking Industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft, particularly in MS Word and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong integrity, ethical standards, and independence, with the willingness to voice concerns when necessary.
  • An analytical and inquisitive mindset.
  • The ability to work independently.
  • A proactive and positive attitude.
