The aim for the role of BI Developer is to support the business in their reporting requirements both ad-hoc and Scheduled as well as to design, develop and deploy business intelligence solutions that facilitate the analysis of data across all of the company’s services for all levels from end user to top management. The person will be dealing with approx. 50 users from all the company’s departments, 10-15 ad-hoc requests per week and handles 1-4 projects at any one time. There will be no direct contact with clients. The principal responsibilities include: · Work with the Business Intelligence team members to develop and manage Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle and Sybase database systems while insuring high levels of data integrity and availability · Work with the client(s) to define their requirements and deliver results · Work with the Business Intelligence team to meet corporate, team and personal objectives as defined by management · Assist in the building of cubes and reports that take advantage of OLAP/Dimensional Modeling capabilities · Assist in the creation of Dashboards, Scorecards, KPI’s and other BI related Front End tools. · Work with the Data-Owners/custodians to produce quality ETL processes to pull data from the many disparate systems into one central sever. · Assist the billing section in ensuring that Raw Billing Data is accurate and complete before it goes to the rating stages. · Regularly communicate downwards with client, sideways with peers and upwards with management to ensure that all work being carried out is well understood by all levels. · Record all progress in a diligent and structured manner. · Document all procedures, ETL processes, Report logic and any other information which would facilitate handover issues and ensure job continuity. Academic Qualifications & Work Experience: · Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Software Engineering preferred. Microsoft SQL Server Certifications a plus · Demonstrated experience in SQL and Reporting Tools such as Style reports, BOXI, Crystal reports and MS reporting Services. · Strong T-SQL and Stored Procedure coding abilities, familiarity with Java programming language extremely desirable · Strong team working skills, an analytical nature, life-long learning and excellent written and oral communications skills are requirements for this position. · Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience using ANSI SQL for reporting purposes. · Ability to troubleshoot technical problems with beta and new release software, and research possible solutions using the internet and other available resources · Experience in optimizing databases; solid understanding of referential integrity and the use of indexes · Experience implementing and supporting 3rd party applications and web-based applications · Proficiency in Microsoft Office product suite including Word and Excel Non Academic Qualifications: · Optional MCSA: SQL Server (Solutions Associate) · Optional MCSE: Business Intelligence (Solutions Expert) · Optional MCSM: Data Platform (Solutions Master) Additional Information: · Be ready to get to grips with new concepts such as Dimensional Modeling, OLAP cubes, data modeling and data analysis. · Be in a position to train newcomers on BI related work both technical and Business oriented.
