JUNIOR LAWYER

Reporting to: Company Secretary
Position Level: Technical Grade
Department: Legal Office

Responsibilities:

Coordinating all company legal matters, thus acting as a first point of call to all internal stakeholders and to act as the liaison with the appointed corporate legal advisors
Draft contracts and agreements – these include technical/business or administrative/operational
Review of policy wordings (new and existing)
Insurance legislation and MFSA rules
Co-ordination of the company’s Legal Corporate Area
Debtors – credit control
Assisting in HR Matters
Support the Compliance officer in compliance matters
Coordinate the renewal process and the new application of TIIs and Introducers with the MFSA
Coordinate the completion and finalisation of TII and Introducers contracts
Coordinate the agreements with other intermediaries – agents and brokers and other distributors

Requirements:

Bachelor Degree in Law by the university of Malta
Previous experience with a bank, insurance company, MFSA or CBM (Central Bank of Malta) would be considered an asset.
Minimum 1 year experience.
Experience in Financial & subsidiary legislation (data protection, insider dealing, professional secrecy, etc) & preferably experience with a regulatory environment. Will also be required to assist company employees if they require appearing in court.
Good communications skills in Maltese and English
Knowledge of Spanish language would be considered an asset
Meticulous and responsible individual with good communication, analytical and multitasking skills
