JOB DESCRIPTION FOR
PURCHASING CLERK
 
Department:                                      Supply Chain Department           
Title:                                                     Purchasing Clerk
Primary Purpose:                             Manage stock levels and distribute supplies from stock
 
  • Issuing Purchase orders in a timely manner to ensure orders are not delayed.
  • Coordinating with the Logistics personnel to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Negotiating the best possible pricing taking in consideration, lead time, quality, freight
  • Cost and credit terms of suppliers.
  • Monitor material usage through reports, budget and trends;
  • Provide timely information for the formulation of forecasts.
  • Follow up order process.
  • Sourcing suppliers for new products needed and finalising deals/contracts with new and existing suppliers.
  • Making sure all products purchased are up to the desired quality/ specs requested.

Attributes:
  • Able to work Under Pressure
  • Can work in a Team 
  • Have good eye for details
  • Experience within the same field – min 1 yr  (would be ideal)
  • Knowledge of PC, Use of Excel  or ECDL
  • Education level to A Level standard
