SENIOR SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR
 
Position Requirements
 
Reporting to the Deputy Head of Group IT, the Senior Systems Administrator will be a professional who possesses the experience and expertise to manage an IT infrastructure and to deliver second line user support and server support to users of various offices around the world, including the local offices in Malta.
 
The candidate will be a key player in ensuring IT infrastructure uptime and availability, strategically planning the road map for the company’s ICT infrastructure, and securing the company’s ICT infrastructure to protect it from internal and external threats.  He/she will be in charge of managing ICT infrastructure projects to completion in order to introduce new systems and technologies in order to support the business as it grows and matures

FUNCTIONAL STATEMENT
Accountability Results will need to be achieved within various areas of the business including:
 
  • Management of infrastructure resources (servers) with the provider, and also the office LAN, in Malta
  • Second Line user support: proper and fast support for user needs in multiple offices, both local and remote
 
RESPONSIBILITY
Second Line user and server support for the company’s office in Malta, as well as for specific offices participating in the pooling of such resources
First line user support when required
Management of the IT infrastructure in the Malta office
Support for the management of the IT infrastructure in remote offices
Creation and maintenance of relevant documentation
 
Authority (decisions made in executing responsibilities and to achieve results)
  • Engaging services and support from service providers
  • Definition of operational measures, guidelines and best practices for the offices managed (local and remote)

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • A degree or equivalent in ICT, engineering or other related discipline.
  • Experience in the management of IT infrastructures, including but not limited to Microsoft Windows (server & desktop), LAMP environments, IIS, Microsoft Exchange, MS-SQL and MySQL, MS SharePoint, LAN, WAN (especially Cisco), WLAN and VPN technologies.
  • Experience in dealing with first and second line user support in a customer oriented manner
  • Good command of the English language   
 
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
  • An ability to recognise and respond to diverse thinking styles, learning styles, cultural qualities and a global mind-set
  • A good understanding of ITIL or other IT service management best practice industry certification
  • A basic understanding of a recognised project management methodology
