DEPARMENT MANAGER – PRODUCTION SUPPORT Our client is one of the world's leading players in the development, manufacture, and sale of first-class generic pharmaceuticals. The group operates in 40 different countries and employs more than 10,000 employees Leading and managing the production support department in both tabletting and packaging. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of all production equipment, production support services and systems. Ensures the smooth running of the production processes such that production activities are carried out efficiently, are continuously improving and becoming more effective. Manages process engineering related projects, through a team of Support Managers, Process Engineer and technicians, and continuous cross-linking with other department and key suppliers. Ensures that production processes are in full compliance with cGMP requirements, company policies and SOP’s, Environmental, Health and Safety requirements and other regulatory obligations. Main Tasks & Responsibilities: · Leading and managing department personnel reporting to him/her, contractor and supplier activities on site and participates in troubleshooting exercises. · Liaise with outside suppliers and contractors for services and maintenance work required by the company that cannot be performed by the Department or under any existing maintenance agreement. Ensures that outside suppliers/contractors are properly instructed and monitored while carrying work on site and works carried out are thoroughly inspected on completion. · Organises a system for managing maintenance works and other scheduled activities and ensures that a well-established and documented preventive maintenance programme is implemented. Drives change in from preventive to predictive maintenance where applicable. · Contributes to the definition of technical requirements in facilities, services/systems and equipment. · Assists in the qualification and validation of facilities, services/systems and equipment, and in the process engineering aspect of validation of products. · Ensures that equipment and place of work (Workshops) are well maintained with adequate stocks of essential spare parts being kept in-house. · To manage the department financial budget and ensure minimum variances without impacting operations in tabletting and packaging. · To be a driver of change through continuous improvement ideas and foster lean manufacturing activities within production areas. · Managing staff reporting to him/her and supplier/contractor activities on site, in terms of work conduct, performance, recruitment and training. · Ensuring that all operations are performed according to cGMP requirements, company policies and procedures, good engineering working principles and the relevant standards and regulations at all times. · Ensuring that staff reporting to him/her and contractor activities on site are rigorously following company EHS procedures and relevant legal requirements. · Participates in cross-departmental projects. Participates in quality related activities such as self-inspections and audits. Assists and guides other departments as required with a final goal of achieving overall target. · To participate actively and take on the assigned roles in case of an emergency requiring the activation of Business Continuity Plans. To keep the principles of Business Continuity at the forefront in the management of the Division/ Department. · To perform any other additional duties that may arise from time to time. Qualities: · Employees shall ensure that they are neat and tidy at all times, and display the utmost courtesy in their interaction, demonstrate initiative in matters assigned to them, and seek all means of resolving them. · Employees shall participate actively in projects relating to other departments of the company, as well as taking on other projects assigned to them. · Employees shall promote improvements in working conditions with regard to facilities, health and safety, and they must implement such measures as are introduced to improve these factors and shall follow current EHS procedures. · Employees shall keep the highest quality considerations always in mind during all procedures while striving to achieve the necessary output. · Employees shall be aware of and abide to all company policies at all times and in all company premises and report any deviations from Standard Procedures. Education & Work Experience (Preferred background) · A first degree in Engineering is required. · Preferably a holder of a Maltese Engineering Warrant · Preferably with experience in an similar post and a proven track record of continuous improvement · achievements · Previous experience in a production environment with a clear understanding of operations management Skills: · Good leadership skills and entrepreneurship · Due to the natural of this job, the employee has to communicate and work with people with varied technical knowledge and hence excellent communication skills are required. · Ability to analyse problems rationally and provide solutions, if necessary after consultation with the relevant people · Ability to identify opportunities and transforming them into concrete achievable goals · A motivational and ‘can do approach’ If you are interested or know of someone that could be, kindly forward your CV in a word format to Krista Psaila on [email protected] or call on +356 27 204 518 for further information.
