DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
 
Our client, a world leader in payments innovation, is looking to recruit a Development Manager to help in the creation of innovative payment technologies that will revolutionise the payments industry. Working closely with the Head of R&D and other Development Managers, you will be leading a team of highly talented software engineers in the design, development, testing and maintenance of payment products. You will need to combine strong technical experience with the ability to get the best out of your team members - keeping the team highly motivated and committed to delivering high quality solutions on time and on budget - as well as assisting them in their personal development.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and guidance to coach, motivate and lead team members to their optimum performance levels, with career development in mind
  • Work with the Head of Research & Development to ensure availability of relevant skills and right development capacity to support the company’s product and technology development
  • Participate in the recruitment process, screening applications and conducting candidate interviews as required
  • Work with project managers to plan and execute projects, ensuring teams have appropriate specifications, direction, and resources to deliver projects effectively
  • Work with other development managers to establish procedures and guidelines to ensure high quality deliverables
  • Encourage a continuous improvement mentality within the development team and actively seek to increase efficiency and quality in a variety of ways including better processes, tools and improved skills
  • Understands and subscribes to company values and culture, and works to actively promote and put them in practice within own team and throughout the company
Requirements:
  • A Computer Science degree or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ experience in an application development role
  • 3+ years’ experience in a management/leadership positions in a software development organisation
  • A record of successful delivery of software applications as an individual, team leader and/or development manager
  • Strong leadership, project management skills, time management, and problem solving skills
  • Strong understanding of the software development cycle
  • Good working experience in Agile practices is highly desirable
