DIRECTOR OF STUDIES
 
Certification: Bachelor’s degree in ENGLISH
Fields of Expertise: ESL/EFL ,  

Requirements: MALTA’s MQRIC Educational Board legal guidelines to be a DOS: (level 6)
1. Hold a minimal BA in English ,/or DELTA from Cambridge ,/or Trinity
Diploma in TESOL ,/or Linguistics Degree in 100percent English
2. Have at least 1000 hours teaching class time
 
Responsibilities
· Management Administration
· Promote and maintain a positive and effective school climate by ensuring that  all interactions with staff, students, parents (or legal guardians) and the public  at large are prompt, efficient, helpful and friendly
· Assist with logistics for school-wide events and school’s health and safety  protocols
· Develop and implement operational policies for documentation and  improvement within Studies department
· Ensure staffing levels are met and managed within Studies department
· Liaise between Studies department and Administration department
· Directly supervise and oversee the daily operations of Studies department
· Participate in budget and forecast meetings
· Edit and develop curriculum, responsible for equipment and materials relating to the academic program
· Attend conferences for professional development
· Academic Staff Support
· Interview and hire teaching staff, prepare payroll for teaching staff
· Conduct teachers’ performance appraisals and collect informal feedback from  students and Administration team
· Manage course timetables and assign appropriate teachers to the courses
· Offer guidance and support to teachers, including course/lesson planning
· Hold and lead regular teachers’ meetings
· Observe lessons and teacher reports
· Develop research workshop for teachers’ professional development
· Act as backup coverage for teacher absences
· Student Services Supervise the enrolment, transfer, discharge, and  read mission process for students
· Supervise and oversee all student testing and placement in classes
· Ensure student records are properly maintained and updated
· Ensure all reports and certificates are issued and completed
 
 
 
ROLE QUALIFICATIONS
 
 
Education
 
· Bachelor’s degree in ENGLISH (or Linguistics of which 80percent + is English)  from a recognized post-secondary
· Minimum 4 years of teaching experience
· Recognized TEFL or TESL certificate
 
Work Experience
 
· Experience in school management or curriculum development an asset
· Knowledge of school-related budgeting, maintenance, and operations
· Experience in supervising and training new and existing employees
 
Skills
 
· Strong leadership with excellent oral and written communication skills
· Ability to interface effectively with various departments and external contacts
· Ability to effectively organize time and workload to meet deadlines
· Strong attention to detail and confidentiality
· Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, and Access)
