LABORATORY ANALYST Our client is one of the world's leading players in the development, manufacture, and sale of first-class generic pharmaceuticals. The group operates in 40 different countries and employs more than 10,000 employees This position reports to the Team Leader and forms part of the AS team. The holder of this position is responsible to sample and test raw materials, intermediates and finished products according to the relevant pharmacopoeial monographs and/or Company standards and requirements whilst complying with current GMP. Main Tasks & Responsibilities: · To sample and carry out analytical procedures according to specified procedures in line with a planned schedule. · To carry out calculations as outlined within company procedures and produce the relevant documentation in association with analysis always in compliance to current GMP practices. · To perform sampling and testing of raw materials, intermediates or finished goods according to specified procedures and in compliance to current GMP criteria. · To prepare, standardise and label stock solutions and laboratory reagents as required. · To routinely monitor and analyse the water supply according to Company procedures. · To perform microbiological routine monitoring of classified areas according to Company procedures. · To ensure that any equipment used is in a calibrated and validated state where applicable. · To perform any calibration checks as instructed. Apparatus should be handled in the proper manner and not in a way which may be detrimental to its function. · To assist outside contractors in performing calibrations throughout the company and keep records of these according to standard procedures as required. · To prepare properly labelled retention samples of raw materials, granules and tablets of all batches of products. · To work out calculations pertaining to analysis and produce the relevant documentation in association always in compliance to current GMP practices. · To ensure proper filing and easy retrieval of all documentation and records pertaining to the AS Department. · To assist the immediate superiors in problem solving exercises and other exercises aimed at improving quality and efficiency. · To maintain records of stocks of reagents, equipment spares and reference standards in such a way as to report when re-ordering is due. · To keep abreast of, follow and document (record) precisely all cGMP rules as explained in the relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Product Standards and Batch Manufacturing Documents and as instructed by the Team Leader, Scientific Officer, AS Department Manager or delegate. Qualities: · Employees shall ensure that they are neat and tidy at all times, and display the utmost courtesy in their interaction, demonstrate initiative in matters assigned to them, and seek all means of resolving them. · Employees shall participate actively in projects relating to other departments of the company, as well as taking on other projects assigned to them. · Employees shall promote improvements in working conditions with regard to facilities, health and safety, and they must implement such measures as are introduced to improve these factors and shall follow current EHS procedures. · Employees shall keep the highest quality considerations always in mind during all procedures while striving to achieve the necessary output. · Employees shall be aware of and abide to all company policies at all times and in all company premises and report any deviations from Standard Procedures. Education & Work Experience (Preferred background) · A degree in Science subjects, a diploma in Applied Science or 2 Advanced levels in Science · subjects. · 2 years previous experience in laboratory work is considered an asset.
