SYSTEMS DEVELOPER MALTA Developing new and existing products. The development is done both in teams and as individuals depending on the scope of the project. Projects include but are not limited to frontend and backend system software. The job also includes leading development teams during the implementation phase, assisting in requirements gathering, analysis and design, and writing documentation for said software, both external and internal documentation. All software must be written with security in mind to avoid hacking. The developer may be required to learn new programming languages to assist in solving problems and delivering software solutions Self-improvements in the field of development are expected, reading materials and/or courses may be provided to assist in this venture. Communications skills are required for team development with other developers, other departments and external parties. Tight deadlines are to be expected at times, putting in extra hours for flexibility may be required. We are seeking those who are interested in developing their career with us in our young and dynamic software team. Successful candidates should enjoy working in an energetic team environment; have the enthusiasm and ambition to complete projects to the highest standard and want to be part of an organisation that has high quality values. Ability and commitment is vital to succeed. Requirements: · Knowledge, skills and experience in programming predominantly in C++ and PHP. Knowledge of other languages would be an asset. The ability to learn new languages when required is important. · Knowledge and experience in database development. Knowledge of MySQL is a requirement. Experience in other DBMS solutions is also an asset. · Documentation experience. · Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal & written) and fluency in English to facilitate communication with colleagues and external parties. Other languages are a plus. · Ability to keep deadlines with the possibility to put in extra work to keep said deadlines. · Strong work ethics. · Reliable time keeping and attendance. · Self-starter, problem solver with the ability to work independently. · Ability to work in groups with other developers and other departments to achieve a common goal. · Creativity and imagination. · Knowledge / experience of Linux usage, administration and development is an asset · Knowledge of SCRUM and other agile methodologies would be considered as an asset. · Knowledge of data structures and performance optimization is an asset. · Ability to adapt and pick up new techniques and technology. · Must be able to stay on top of advancing IT and mobile technology and its effects to the business environment. · Must be thorough and precise in their work. · Ability to multi-task. Responsibilities: · Testing and identifying any technical problems and hitches. · Authoring, to analysis and design, development, testing and delivery. · Stay in contact with affected departments during development to make sure software matches existing and new requirements. · Working independently and be able to put forward suggestions for improvements in existing software and ideas for new software to make sure that there is never a lack of work. · Taking responsibility for certain projects or certain parts of projects as their own. · Keeping software up to date against current and new threats to security. · Keeping software up to date for new functionality. · Making sure the documentation matches the functionality of the software and compliant with the standards requested by the organization. Education: • Knowledge of International IT and mobile standards and protocols. • Degrees in Computer Science, IT, Software engineering, programming or other subjects. • Several years of programming experience in C/C++ and other languages both individually and as part of a team.
